The 45th Anniversary Celebration of Atsugi-Zama Toastmasters Club

Jiro Nakamura

President of Atsugi-Zama Toastmasters Club

Atsugi-Zama TMC was founded in 1970. We are celebrating our 45th birthday this year! In order to commemorate this significant milestone, we held the special regular meeting and the 45th anniversary party on May 31, 2015. The event was highly memorable with the attendance of district, division and area officers as well as fellow toastmasters from other clubs. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all the people who joined and celebrated this special occasion.
We have created the slogan for the 45th anniversary. “Carry on the torch and ignite our new passion!” We will appreciate and carry on our good tradition and at the same time, work up our new enthusiasm.
We, Atsugi-Zama TMC members will continue our activities in a friendly manner with a smile and passion for many years to come.

Why don’t you come and join and enjoy our activities together? We are looking forward to seeing you from the bottom of our heart!

Fellow members with distinguished guests

Atsugi-Zama TMC was founded at Camp Zama, a US Army base located in Kanagawa in 1970. Our club has a long history and is the fifth oldest in Japan. At the beginning, many of the fellow members were commissioned officers. As time went by, more Japanese members joined the club. In order to cherish our good tradition as an English speaking club, we have been actively having our activities under the leadership of President Nakamura.

A Hollywood movie star?

Wedding? Cutting the 45th anniversary cake!

We have changed our venue from Sagami Women’s University to Unicom Plaza Sagami-Ono since Professor Perkins retired from office in this past March. At our new venue, we are able to use full-fledged kitchen utensils, and sometimes throwing potluck parties after the regular meeting. This is a wonderful opportunity to communicate and socialize with our guests and fellow members.

This year, we are celebrating our 45th birthday and held the special regular meeting and the 45th anniversary party. We invited many distinguished guests. Among them were Mr. Watanabe, former District 76 Governor and Mr. Azuma, current District 76 Director.

Couldn't be happier!

Awarding ceremony. Congratulations!

Atsugi-Zama TMC has a variety of members. They are English teachers, sales engineers, marketers, researchers, homemakers, employees at Camp Zama, etc.
In our regular meeting, each speech has full of originality and uniqueness and gives us a great value. Why don’t you come and join and enjoy our activities together? We are looking forward to seeing you from the bottom of our heart!
