2009-10 Division E Club Officer Training No. 2 was Held for both Japanese and English Clubs together at Ebino City, Miyazaki Pref. on January 24, 2010
2009-10 Division E Officer Training No. 2 for both Japanese and English clubs was held in Ebino City, Miyazaki Prefecture, on Sunday, January 24, 2010. Minami-Kyushu TC supported the event. 48 Toastmasters representing 13 clubs out of 15 in the Division attended the program which started at 11:30 and ended at 17:30. The venue was Ebino City’s International Exchange Center. The lunch that started after the brief opening and introduction of all the participating clubs was the main socializing occasion. During the lunch time, all attendees were grouped by the office they hold in their respective clubs and all in the same group introduced each other.
The main programs of the OT were divided into the following three sessions. They were (1) Lecture Session, (2) Group Discussion Session and (3) Wrap-up and Finale Session
In the Lecture Session, there were three lectures, namely, the lecture I on Robert’s Rules of Order by Div. E Governor Suzuki, the lecture 2 on CL as Conducted at Hiroshima TC by TM Ono, VPE of Hiroshima TC and lecture 3 on Club Alignment by TM Kishikawa, IP Div. E Governor. Lectures 1 and 2 were given twice, once in English and again in Japanese. Lecture 3 on Club Alignment was given in Japanese for the whole audience.
The Group Discussion Session was divided into smaller groups by the office of participants. Reflecting the feedback from the OT 1 participants, the length of the Group Discussion Session was extended to full one hour.
The Wrap-up and Finale Session included reports from each Discussion Group both in English and Japanese. Then, a brief explanation of the latest DCP standing of clubs was given by Area 53 Governor Kawano along with the explanation of how to view the latest DCP standing at the TI site. Then, the up-coming event schedules were shared including Div. E Contest, Spring Conference and Fall Conference in Kumamoto. Filling the questionnaire and group photo-taking and re-arranging the main room concluded the whole program.
While some extra efforts were required to prepare for the program in the two languages together, the results were satisfactory with a strong feeling of Div. E as a team shared by many participants.
A quick review of the questionnaire was quite encouraging with an overall average of all evaluated items rated at 4.32.
